Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.)

Seal Beach, in partnership with the cities of Cypress, Los Alamitos, La Palma, Buena Park, and Westminster, is a member of the West Orange County Regional Community Emergency Response Team, known as West County CERT. This program was developed to provide basic disaster response training to individuals for their own neighborhood. West County CERT is a volunteer response team and has responded to multiple federal and local disasters.

CERT Goals

  • Train residents, employees, businesses, and school personnel in basic disaster preparedness and emergency response.
  • Promote greater self-sufficiency throughout the community.
  • Maintain a cadre of well-trained individuals who will be prepared to provide support to their families, neighborhood, and community in the event of a disaster.
